Building self-trust: part six – prioritising your energy

Welcome back to the next chapter in your exploration of building self-trust. This week, we’re focusing on the vital role of protecting your energy – a crucial component in making sound decisions and nurturing self-trust.

Have you ever noticed how much harder it is to make decisions when you’re tired or stressed? The brain simply doesn’t function as effectively when you are feeling drained or overwhelmed. In these moments, you are more likely to defer to others for decisions, even if they may not align with your best interests.

That’s why safeguarding your energy levels is essential on your journey towards building self-trust. Ensuring your energy is at its peak allows you to approach decision-making with clarity and confidence.

One of the simplest ways to protect your energy is by prioritising rest and sleep. A well-rested body and mind are better equipped to handle life’s challenges and make informed choices. Make it a priority to get enough sleep each night to allow your body and mind to reset and rejuvenate.

In addition to adequate rest, it’s important to schedule regular relaxation and reset breaks throughout the day. Pay attention to your energy levels and recognise when you may need a moment to recharge. Whether it’s a short walk outside, a quick workout, or a coffee break with friends, find activities that replenish your energy and leave you feeling refreshed.

It’s also helpful to understand your peak energy times for decision-making. Some people find they’re most alert and focused in the morning, while others prefer the afternoon or evening. Take note of when you feel most energised and productive and plan your important decisions accordingly.

Investing in your wellbeing is another powerful way to protect your energy. Engage in activities that bring you joy and relaxation, whether it’s practicing a hobby, spending time in nature, or connecting with loved ones. By prioritising self-care, you strengthen your resilience and empower yourself to make decisions that align with your values and goals.

As you continue to protect and nurture your energy, you’ll find yourself in a better position to trust yourself when it comes to decision-making. You’ll feel more confident in your choices and more comfortable with the outcomes, knowing that you’ve prioritised your wellbeing and honoured your needs.

Stay tuned for the next instalment in our series, where you will learn how tuning into your inner body wisdom is important for building self-trust.  Until then, remember to prioritise your energy, invest in your wellbeing, and trust yourself to make decisions that serve your highest good.
